The ideal date is the 7th day after the birth. That day marks the child's official entry into the community of believers: the aqiqah, the shaving of the hair and the choosing of the name are performed together, following the prophetic practice.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Every child is bound by his aqiqah, which is sacrificed for him on the 7th day, when his head is shaved and he is given a name.”

The 14th or the 21st day: valid alternatives
If the 7th day is not possible for practical, financial or logistical reasons, the 14th or the 21st day are alternatives expressly mentioned in the Sunnah. Those delays do not affect the validity of the sacrifice.
Beyond these dates: the aqiqah is still possible
The aqiqah can be performed at any time if the initial dates could not be met. Some scholars allow it to be performed throughout the girl's childhood, and even beyond. Do not give up this Sunnah because the ideal moment has passed — perform it as soon as you are able.
